"Catkins had never seen anything like it..."
Here's my resume for those that care.
Once upon a time I worked on a game for the Atari ST and CBM Amiga called Debut.
Here's some silly home movies.
Glastonbury 2004 - Is this the year bureaucracy takes over Glastonbury? Seems so... Eavis has announced a byzantine process to get tickets, all aimed at defeating those evil touts that made life so difficult for us all last year. Apparently Macca is playing, which should be a highlight of this year's festival. As usual, the official page has all the info. The festival turned out to be a huge success - the weather was mainly kind, with a spot of rain on a couple of days. Just a little mud to kiss our boots, but nothing compared to previous washouts! Oasis were lackluster (if not crap), Macca was awesome. This year's recommendations are - Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Ocean Colour Scene, Goldfrapp, Starsailor and Spiritualized. A chap by the name of Steve Hogg also played some mellow tunes at the bandstand during the warming sun of Saturday. Lovely.
Glastonbury 2003 - Well, it's back on, by the skin of it's teeth! In the wee hours of February 18th, the council finally came to their senses and gave approval for 112,000 public tickets with a provisional license. Within hours of them going on sale on March 30th, they were all sold out. This is surprising, because it usually takes 8-10 weeks for this to happen. For all the official updates go to the official Glastonbury Festivals page. Lineup information is starting to trickle out (although we've known about REM and Radiohead for a while now. Since the BBC will be covering the event once again, they're up on the current festival lineup. The big question though, is will Rolf appear? Since he's done two in a row, it's doubtful - but we can hope!
Glastonbury 2002 - Missed it <again>. Following a year off for being a naughty boy, Michael Eavis brought back the festival with a one million pound fence, improved security and an altogether mellower feel. Glastonbury will never be the same again, and that's probably a good thing! Rolf Harris rocked a field of hippies once again and those that couldn't get in made a pain of themselves in the locals' garden bushes!
Glastonbury 2001 (Does not exist) - And what happened in 2001? It was cancelled, due to a bunch of miserable people jumping over the fence in 2000. Glad I wasn't part of that rabble. Awful people. This year it would have been cancelled due to foot and mouth disease rampaging across the UK, so I count my blessings I was disappointed at the last minute. Until 2002...
Glastonbury 2000 - Missed it. I'm stupid, I know. Mendip council gets pissed off with Michael Eavis for letting people jump the fence. Gits.
Glastonbury 1999 - Was a scorcher. A classic in recent years. Following two years of mud and rain, we were finally given a reprive. The weather was wonderful, and so was the music. The Beautiful South belted out some great tunes, that had everybody's feet tapping. REM put on a show. The London Gospel Choir in the Acoustic Tent on Sunday rounded out a very mellow and wonderful Glastonbury. A minute's silence for Jean Eavis was very appropriate. The poor luv died only a month before the event.
Glastonbury 1999 - It's On! It was recently announced that Glastonbury 1999 is on. In 1999 the festival will be on June 25th - 27th, which as usual is the last weekend of the month. Early days yet, but is expected ticketing will begin in March 1999, with better booking procedures (and Internet?) promised. Preparations are also being put in place to handle a torrent of rain and mud, following the washouts of '97 and '98.
Glastonbury 1998 - Actually finally made it back to Glastonbury in '98. Very
muddy but lots of fun. If you missed Rolf
Harris, you haven't been to Glastonbury! Rumor has it that Glasto 2000 might be
the last, or maybe the last in the current format. If you have a chance in 1999
or 2000, don't let it pass you up. Congrats to Mark and Wendy who'll be getting
married just before Glastonbury next year.
